I came here for lunch with Cherie O. This place is just ok in my book. The gyro itself wasn't foodgasmic. Seriously. The baklava was puny & kind of cute. The employees are helpful & cool. Ambience is simply put a hole in a wall. The bathrooms are outside, & you need a key to get in. Weird. Anyhow, fast service.

Before any plate is served at any restaurant you care to visit, you form an involuntary opinion of your chosen establishments customer service. Lily grill has always made me feel above and beyond welcome in their tiny eatery. I love that, and I can appreciate how hard that must be to maintain day after day. The food is always more than generous in proportion to the price, especially the Gyros. The Tzatziki is just right. And I love the Baklava. I often purchase and leave, so the small space of the old taco bell does not affect me. Bottom line, if you like Gyros, and want to feel at home in a small mom and pop eatery, then do yourself the favor of a visit.

It is what it is: AWESOME! Best gyros I've on his continent (20 year military vet, I've lived in Europe/travelled extensively) It's an old Taco Bell converted into a gyro stand. Nothing more. The gyros are amazing (see above). The Shawarma is outstanding too. The tsatsiki is delicious. The food takes more time than I was used to in Europe but by no means overly slow. They are busy because they've earned it. Just go, your tongue will thank you.

One word... GROSS! A huge heap of greasy mystery meat with no seasoning. My husband got the "delux" and it was so bad he couldn't eat it. I got the only vegetarian option and it was a dry piece of bread with some iceburg letruce and a few falafel balls. I got extra sauce, which costs extra, and it didn't add much flavor. Service was as bad as the food. I've had takeout from here before with equally disappointing results. Save your money...and don't believe the hype!

I ordered the Italian Beef and it was excellent! Tasted as good as the Italian Beef's I've had in Chicago. Also got mushrooms as an appetizer. They were good but maybe just a tad overdone. Baklava for desert was especially flaky and sweet. I'd definitely come back for more if I'm ever in the area again.

I got the chicken gyro plate and wasn't able to finish it all because they gave you so much meat so the value is pretty awesome! I thought the chicken was a little bland but I think that was impacted by them giving so much meat and rice that is all I really ate. Providing more tomatoes and grilling the onions probably would have helped. The sauce was really good though!

We had did a carry out here tonight at lilly's! We have been planning to come here for sometime but always been thrown off by the location. And of course don't let the location throw you off! We just ordered the lamb gyro and it was pretty good. There's not many gyro places in the area so it's nice to see Lilly's here. I personally thought the gyro was a little bit on the salty side to eat just by itself. But with the pita it goes perfect! Love the tanziki sauce! Wish they grilled the onions and gave more onions and tomatoes. But on the brighter side they were very generous with the meat! So I'm not complaining too much. We will be back to try other goodies!

Wonderful! It's in the old Taco Bell building on 50 in Fairview. Which is kinda small, but it's all good. Let's get to the food! I had the standard Gyros and fries. The Gyros meat was so tender and juicy. Add the tomatoes and yogurt sauce on the pita...it was really really really good! Especially for the price, it really exceeded my expectations. My only negative is I wish they had more selection of Greek food but I understand a lot of people may not order moussaka or grape leaf dolmas... Go!!! It's worth it! It so hard to find a place to eat in Fairview that isn't a chain!!!!!

We love Lilly's! Their food is always fresh, hot and delicious. We have treated family members when they come in from out of town, and are looking for that special flare and something different. I'll admit I usually get the same thing everytime (gyros lunch special), but why ruin a good thing. Their spinach pie is great and the greek salad is filling and flavorful. I can't say enough great things about this spot. The food, atmosphere and employees are all great and treat you with respect. If you're in the area and looking for a great lunch or dinner consider them, you'll be happy you did!

Small little restaurant.great food friendly staff.the lamb shank was very flavorful.but i gotta warn you guys if u are gonna order it order side salad with it.lol it was pure meat with no vegetable comes with it.i ended up ordering side salad seperately and the guy said if it was less than 5 bucks we need to pay with cash but he still let me pay with the card which was nice.salad was very fresh,could be the freshest i've had in awhile..it was a bit cold inside just keep that in mind.hubby's gyro was awesome.will definitely go back!!!

Even the bad reviews for Lilly's are a 3.... The lamb meat here has as much flavor as I have tasted in a gyro in years. The service is wonderful and the portions are more then enough. This is my new Gyro Destination with out question. Now the concerns of our other fellow Yelpers. I to feel that a couple more flavor additives to the lamb gyro's would put this place over the top(Feta or Olives or even Lettuce). I purchased the platter and I was able to apply my own tzatziki sauce to taste, but my wife however with just purchasing a gyro it was already made for her and had alot of sauce. She still needed to use some of mine because she loves the sauce, but I could see that it might've been to much for other patrons. I feel the sauce is a little Americanized, but still tasty. They are obviously hanging their hat on how much depth of flavor they have achieved with the lamb meat. I am sorry to anyone else that enjoy Greek flavors other then the lamb. I ALWAYS get the lamb. I was hooked on the street food of Souda Bay, Greece where they even have french fries embedded in the gyro.. This is the closest I have found in years. Oh And They Need A Much Larger Sign Installed Out Front.

Love getting gyros from Lilly's. My dad delivers their mail so growing up time to time he'd bring home gyros for dinner as a treat. The gyros are to die for. So every time I have a dentist appointment next door I make sure to schedule it around my lunch break or late afternoon so I can stop by Lilly's to get a delicious gyro! $7.49 Lunch Special - gyro sandwich, small fries and a drink. Can't beat it!

Great gyro tons of meat and the garlic sauce they have is amazing. Staff and owner are very nice and helpful. We will be going back. They do have a lunch special for $7.49, which comes with a gyro french fries or salad and a soda. I would highly recommend this place for a quick lunch.

UPDATE: Went in today and their was a couple from Oklahoma ordering 50 pounds of meat to take home. They come up once a year and take home 50 pounds and have a big dinner to show off the amazing food that comes from Lilly. If that does not sell you on how good this place is, nothing will. Amazing food and staff. Truly a family owned and operated establishment. The gyros are the best in the metro area. The sides (fries, etc) are nothing special but the Greek food is perfect. ALWAYS take home some if their amazing baklava.

It is the best gyro in this area (it is also the only one I can think of). Good gyro (even though meat is processed). Decent Baba Ghanoush and falafel, but I wouldn't recommend spanakopita, or hummus.

I don't normally *do* bread or sweets, because I eat mostly raw vegan, but this place is off-the-hook-delicious, and it is absolutely worth it. The fluffy soft pita bread and the fragrant homemade baklava are ridiculous... So much so, that I almost wish I had not tried them. That is how good they are. I also ordered two pieces of falafel à la cart and dipped them in some of the Lillys special sauce, and it was outstanding. I will be back to try some babaganoush and hummus, but I have to be careful of this place. It's dangerous! I blame Yelp :) Oh, PS, it's family-owned and very inexpensive.

Lilly's is a great place to get your Gyros. The food has always been fresh and had great flavor. You get a ton of food here and would probably give 5 stars if they just gave you and extra pita for free because the amount of meat they give you with the platter there is no way that its all fitting in the pitas they give you. The sauce always seems to be fresh and out of the 8 or so times that I have went there the food has always been great. I know when I get the hunch for gyros this is the place that I go.

The place was busy so I figured we were in for a real treat. Especially after reading all the Yelp reviews. I ordered a chicken gyro my mother the same. Hubby ordered lamb. We also ordered hummus which I love love love. The gyros were HUGE brimming with meat but swimming in sauce. No feta cheese not even a drop. However, it wa tasty not omg tasty but tasty just the same. The hummus was flavorless but a hearty position. The service was good. The lady behind the counter (I am assuming the owner) was very pleasant. She didn't smile but was polite just the same. They had forgotten my baklava and when I called to tell her this (we didn't eat it there) she apologized and said bring in your receipt and I will give you one. All in all I would say it was okay. You get alot for your money.

Truly the BEST Gyro & Hummus Ive had in the area! and I never would have known if it wasnt for Yelp! (Thanks!) It is in an old Taco bell or something but they owners are right in there cooking and ringing up your orders... The meat was absolutely perfect! Juicy and Delicious! The Hummus is homemade and DOES require a little extra salt and pepper the lemon juice made it nice too especially on a hot summer day.. But I imagine its a little bland so that people can kind of decide for themselves what to do with it...I would add a little spice to it to giveit a kick.. but anyway.. I easily recommend this place for those looking to have a Seriously Tasty Gyro! Next time trying the Shawarma...(Same thing basically)

So good we came back to try the hummus and to see if they were consistent. We also got the large ones to polish off later for dinner. The hummus was definitely homemade but a bit on the bland side. It benefitted from some salt and pepper and lemon juice but I was so full I took it home and added some more spices and it was better but I like a spicy hummus. Still, the gyros were great and the service great.

This place is great. I had an Italian Beef and Gyro and both were good. I was actually on my way to Arby's when I noticed a sign in the window that said ITALIAN BEEF, which is one of my favorite things, just barely beating out a good gyro. The thing about gyros is that in most places the meat is the same, coming from one of the big meat companies that specializes in the product. The differentiating factors are the sauce, the portion size and to some extent the bread. Lilly's does well on all counts.

I come here religiously. Lilly does exist, she's almost always there with her husband and they make the best gyros in STL. Fluffy-iest pita, most meat (thick, moist cuts), and homemade sauce made fresh daily. You can't beat it... thick cut fries are also awesome. To top it off, it's very reasonable!

I've tried some gyros before and have always been a fan of Greek food (mostly gyros) but haven't really encountered the wow factor until I came to this place. It's a small place and you'd probably miss it unless you're really looking for it but trust me, you'd want to look for it! I had the lunch special and the gyro turned out really delicious, the meat was not chewy which I've had before from other places and the sauce was really good. The meat was literally melt-in-your-mouth goodness and is so much more flavorful than any other Greek places I've tried. After eating about half of my gyro, I wish I wasn't full already because it was so sad to not be able to eat the rest. I definitely want to come back and try their other menu items. While waiting for my food, I could smell all the different blends of aroma from the kitchen and they just smelled so delicious! The place is nice and well-kept and like several people mentioned before, it's family-ran and they all seem so nice. I went during lunchtime and it was busy; some people had to wait to place their orders but great food is always worth the wait and what's another 10 minutes for something delicious and reasonably priced? I did notice that their menu items are very reasonably-priced. It's definitely a place to try if you like Greek food.

OK so I had never had lamb before coming here but you can't just come in and not get authentic Greek gyro. Once you push the image of a soft sweet little lamb "baaaahh"-ing at you with big sad eyes.... its pretty delicious. They gyros are huge and very messy. You will need napkins and one rally can fill you up. The owners are super friendly. I saw them walking around when no new customers had come in and everyone was eating and making sure everything tasted good. Also, as a side note, their lemonade is quite possibly the best lemonade in the world. Its not too sour or too sweet. It is literally perfect lemonade. Anyway you normally wouldn't be able to tell its worth while from the outside. I think it used to be an old gas station or something because the bathrooms are outside and you need a key. Its a tiny place so I think Miss Lilly has the perfect hole in the wall/ hidden gem in all of Fairview Heights.

I've enjoyed gyros all over the country and find these to be the best ever! My friend and I both commented on how rare it is to have a gyro without feta cheese and not miss it one bit. If you are anywhere near this place for lunch or dinner, I recommend stopping. It's amazazazing.

Wow! That's the first thing I want to say. Their gyros are soo good! My husband and I tried Lily's out today and we're very happy with the entire experience. We both got the lunch special with the 6 inch lamb gryo, and an order of hummus. The service was great and the food was awesome. I highly suggest trying it out.

Yum yum yum! When my boyfriend got back from Greece where he was for work, he was desperate to find another great Greek place. This was the one place that did not disappoint him, or me when he took me there. The portions are huge and the family that runs and owns it is fantastic. We look to try something different when we go but you end up having the Gyros and it is hard to try anything else. They are delicious and come in 3 different sizes. I only wish they were open on Sundays because then we might get the chance to go there a little more often.

Needing someplace to eat before spending time at Barnes and Noble, I was wanting someplace that wasn't a chain or fast food. I thought about Fortel's or The Chuckwagon, but wanted something different. That's when Lilly's came from somewhere in the back of my mind. Anyway, I've driven by there for many years and have just never thought about going. But a while ago out at Faust Park, on a food truck event my wife ate at the Go Gyro Go truck and loved it and has been mentioning gyros since. So we did a little research on Yelp and found nothing but glowing reviews so we were in. So now that my life story is over, (sorry) let's talk about Lilly's. Lilly Gyros is now on my list of favorite places to eat. The interior may be dated, but the food is a definite classic. The location is an old Taco Bell, and the outside and inside are a little quaint. They have up gyro posters that are circa 1980's. There are table and chair in the center of the restaurant but the booths on the outside walls appear original to the Taco Bell. Amongst the signs that are posted include two that ask customers to "Share your love, but not your soda." I point this out because I know families where this is the norm. so be warned. As for the food, where to start. I ordered the Gyro Platter, and my wife ordered a Regular Gyro, and then we ordered Spinach Pies and Humus. The Regular Gyro comes with the meat, onion, tomato and Lilly Sauce (tzatziki) and looks a bit like a taco. The platter on the other hand is the ingredients of the gyro on the plate served in the same style as a fajita would be with the pita bread on top, and then add in a side of fries. In either case, the gyros were exceptional. The meat was moist and well seasoned, and from the heating method the outside had a little bit of a bark developing on it. The Lilly Sauce paired very well with the meat and the onion and tomato. The Spinach Pies were awesome. Like a little spinach empanada, they spinach wrapped in phyllo dough. The filling was creamy and the phyllo was light and flaky. The humus on the other hand was good but not the stand out that everything else was. Mind you, I would buy it again if in the mood for humus, but I don't know that I would travel across town for it. Overall, however, I loved Lilly's. The price point, the portions, the flavor, even the quaint atmosphere made it someplace I will eat at again.

I've been wanting to try this place ever since a friend told me about it, so when Kat V. suggested it for lunch, I was game. Our first visit was stymied due to the fact that the owners were on vacation, but we were green to go our second try. It's very efficiently run by a family, something that you rarely see these days. The son runs the front, taking orders and working the cash register, and the parents run the kitchen and smiles and waves at everyone who walks in. The son is all-business and actually on the curt side. They have some other employees who take the meals out to the customers and clean off the tables. They have a continual coupon on their website, which is simply "Bring in this coupon for a coupon". The "coupon" is for a free drink. The son kinda sneered at us when we asked him about that. Dude, a coupon is a coupon. Their lunch special is from 11-2 and consists of a 6" gyro, small fries, and soda for about $7.00. It might be a little higher; I forget, but I remember thinking that it wasn't as bad as other lunch places...so I'm a little hesitant to even say it was more than $7. Otherwise, if you miss the lunch special, there is an entire menu of sandwiches, gyros, shawarma, and Italian beef. The gyros came out really fast, despite the fact that there was a lunch crowd, and we dug in. There was a massive amount of meat on the gyro, and it was all tasty, so double thumbs-up for that. I actually ended up using a fork and knife because there was so much meat and sauce that the pita bread actually paled in comparison. But the bread was fresh, and the entire thing was pretty good, but also a little bit on the greasy side. The fries were nothing to write home about. While the gyro did not compare to any Turkish gyro (or any gyro from overseas, for that matter), it's one of the best gyros you can have in the St. Louis area. It definitely hit the spot, and I'll be back when I get my next craving for a gyro.

I can't remember how long it's been since I've had a Gyro this good. You have to ask for feta, it doesn't come standard, but it is a pretty healthy portion. The first place that I've seen with gyros made with lamb, and it was delicious!

Things I like about LG: * It has a nifty website, from which I learned the names of the family: Ian, Lilly (of course!), Peyman, and Keivan; and gleaned the fact that the food not only is Greek, but also Spanish and Persian. * LG is two blocks from Randall's, on the same (south) side of the street (yet I never had noticed it). If you're at St. Clair Square, it's five minutes away. * Cherie O., who gets around to all the good places in Illinois, thinks it has one of the best gyros in the area, and that was recommendation enough for me (Thanks, Cherie!). * There's a little yelpburst on the entry door, which feels more and more like a good sign, as it means the owners are paying attention to social media and making an effort to provide an excellent experience for customers, old and new. * The moment I walked in, Lilly greeted me with a smile, offered a menu, and quickly took my order. * The wait time for takeout was only about ten minutes. * The food (lamb shank and rice, chicken shawarma plate, side salad) was excellent, the meats fall-off-the-bone tender, the rice flavorful, and the salad greens fresh. Yes, the building looks worn, and the parking lot has plenty of low spots for puddling water. But maintaining commercial real estate is an expensive enterprise, and for food this good, I am happy to support Lilly and her family. Very good local business!

I was looking forward to trying the gyros here but I'll just have to give it an OK. They only come with tomato, onion and tzatziki on them, it would be nice to be able to add feta or lettuce or olives. The tzatziki sauce tasted like ranch dressing to me, a little mayonnaisey instead of cucumber-Garlic yogurt. The service is very friendly and plenty of seating, just wishing for a better tzatziki sauce!

As some others have said, the young man running the counter appears to disdain his customers to an extent, but the food is still worth it. Best gyros I've had in the St. Louis area hands down. Word to the wise: If you get the biggest gyro they have, you will not be able to eat it in one sitting. You have been warned :D

Lillys foods are great, specially the gyros and cheeseburgers. One of my favorite is their fries, always fresh, crispy and absolutely delicious so the provirus comment is so not true. The staff is wonderful, helpful and always welcome you with a smile. I've been their costumer for years and never had any problem with the younger gentleman at the register as the other reviews pointed out. Overall a fantastic place.

This place is the bomb I love their food. You can't make a bad choice here. Stop here all the time when I am in town. Been talking about going to Lilly's for 2 days now...Finally had time to get there this afternoon. As always Great service and Great food. I got the Gyro platter, 2 extra Pitas and an order of the Spinach Pie; all for right at $15.00. I was stationed in Europe for a few yrs while in the Army and have been to many Greek restaurants throughout the country.....simply one of the best tasting and price. Mother of god. Pita + or Pita Plus in Creve Coeur has best Gyros?? NO WAY. I have FOUND the best GYROS in the St. Louis area in 50 mile radius! Don't let the name fool you. It's actually Mediterranean food. At the urging of a friend, I visited him and we hit up Lilly's. Built in an old Taco Bell building, the owners are originally from Iran. The father of one of the couple is from Greece. Their take on Gyros are spectacular. The portions are huge. There is a 5in, 7in, and 9in. The 7in gyro will suffice. Packed with hot, warm, juicy meat, its more meat than veggies. The special yogurt is not some over-the-counter stuff you buy at a market. Its HOME MADE. The pita quality is delicious, toasted, and the gyro is served in metal wrapping. I will warn you that if you buy the 9in, the pita is thin and it is nearly impossible to hold and eat in your hands. The price is great. I got this huge gyro for $6.50 and it was like twice the size of the gyros that people rave about at Pita + in Creve Coeur. This place is a mom and pop kinda place. A 4 star quality food that becomes 5 star after factoring the price. They have dolmas, and kabobs and other offerings too. I will definitely return to try the other food. I didn't believe my buddy, but no I have to eat my shorts because I lost the bet that the food was that good. Hah. Such an odd place to find such a gyro.

Phenomenal gyros. Friendly staff, great portions. I typically get just a plain 7" or 9" gyro and a drink. No veggies, just meat and sauce. It's in the rotation for places to go with co-workers for lunch.

Ordered traditional beef and lamb gyro, and my co worker ordered the gryo plate special. Both meals had a large portion of gyro meat and both of us were impressed. I would suggest visiting this place to get full on quick and excellent tasting gryos.

I've been trying to make it over to this place for a few weeks now. I finally did and I sure was not disappointed!!! I loved my gyro and I also ordered the dulma (stuffed grape leaves) and they were yummy too. I went there around 1130 and it wasn't too busy yet but the lunch crowd started rolling in and you don't want to be a part if that if at all possible. I only say this because it seemed like they were kind of slow to make two gyros and fries and it wasn't that crowded yet. My only wish is that they stayed open later than 8. There's been a few times I would have liked to.have had a gyro late night :-) I can't wait to try some of the other items on the menu.

I love gyros, and have had them at many St. Louis establishments. I tend to eat lunch out since my job has me all over the place. I stopped in here after reading several Yelpers reviews. I wasn't a fan of the 6",7",8" pita choices. I got the lunch special, which was a 6" gyro, fries, and drink...around $8.50. As far as quantity, the gyro had a massive amount of meat. So much so, that you couldn't really taste anything else. I noticed they heat the meat up in a giant cast iron skillet, almost boiling it. I prefer the places that have the meat turning on a spit, so the meat gets browned, with little crispy edges. The homemade sauce ended up a watery mess because of the way they heated the meat. So far, The Gyro Company on Gravois blows this place away.

Best Greek place on the East Side, for sure. We used to just drive to the city and go to Olympia when we were hungry for Greek food. No more. Lilly's was awesome. Quaint little place, looks like it was a Taco Bell in a former life. Food quality was excellent. Everything was served on paper plates and styrofoam..... which grosses me out a little.

I got the chicken gyro plate and wasn't able to finish it all because they gave you so much meat so the value is pretty awesome! I thought the chicken was a little bland but I think that was impacted by them giving so much meat and rice that is all I really ate. Providing more tomatoes and grilling the onions probably would have helped. The sauce was really good though!

We had did a carry out here tonight at lilly's! We have been planning to come here for sometime but always been thrown off by the location. And of course don't let the location throw you off! We just ordered the lamb gyro and it was pretty good. There's not many gyro places in the area so it's nice to see Lilly's here. I personally thought the gyro was a little bit on the salty side to eat just by itself. But with the pita it goes perfect! Love the tanziki sauce! Wish they grilled the onions and gave more onions and tomatoes. But on the brighter side they were very generous with the meat! So I'm not complaining too much. We will be back to try other goodies!

Before any plate is served at any restaurant you care to visit, you form an involuntary opinion of your chosen establishments customer service. Lily grill has always made me feel above and beyond welcome in their tiny eatery. I love that, and I can appreciate how hard that must be to maintain day after day. The food is always more than generous in proportion to the price, especially the Gyros. The Tzatziki is just right. And I love the Baklava. I often purchase and leave, so the small space of the old taco bell does not affect me. Bottom line, if you like Gyros, and want to feel at home in a small mom and pop eatery, then do yourself the favor of a visit.

It is what it is: AWESOME! Best gyros I've on his continent (20 year military vet, I've lived in Europe/travelled extensively) It's an old Taco Bell converted into a gyro stand. Nothing more. The gyros are amazing (see above). The Shawarma is outstanding too. The tsatsiki is delicious. The food takes more time than I was used to in Europe but by no means overly slow. They are busy because they've earned it. Just go, your tongue will thank you.

I ordered the Italian Beef and it was excellent! Tasted as good as the Italian Beef's I've had in Chicago. Also got mushrooms as an appetizer. They were good but maybe just a tad overdone. Wonderful! It's in the old Taco Bell building on 50 in Fairview. Which is kinda small, but it's all good. Let's get to the food! I had the standard Gyros and fries. The Gyros meat was so tender and juicy. Add the tomatoes and yogurt sauce on the pita...it was really really really good! Especially for the price, it really exceeded my expectations. My only negative is I wish they had more selection of Greek food but I understand a lot of people may not order moussaka or grape leaf dolmas... Go!!! It's worth it! It so hard to find a place to eat in Fairview that isn't a chain!!!!!

One word... GROSS! A huge heap of greasy mystery meat with no seasoning. My husband got the "delux" and it was so bad he couldn't eat it. I got the only vegetarian option and it was a dry piece of bread with some iceburg letruce and a few falafel balls. I got extra sauce, which costs extra, and it didn't add much flavor. Service was as bad as the food. I've had takeout from here before with equally disappointing results. Save your money...and don't believe the hype!

We love Lilly's! Their food is always fresh, hot and delicious. We have treated family members when they come in from out of town, and are looking for that special flare and something different. I'll admit I usually get the same thing everytime (gyros lunch special), but why ruin a good thing. Their spinach pie is great and the greek salad is filling and flavorful. I can't say enough great things about this spot. The food, atmosphere and employees are all great and treat you with respect. If you're in the area and looking for a great lunch or dinner consider them, you'll be happy you did!

Even the bad reviews for Lilly's are a 3.... The lamb meat here has as much flavor as I have tasted in a gyro in years. The service is wonderful and the portions are more then enough. This is my new Gyro Destination with out question. Now the concerns of our other fellow Yelpers. I to feel that a couple more flavor additives to the lamb gyro's would put this place over the top(Feta or Olives or even Lettuce). I purchased the platter and I was able to apply my own tzatziki sauce to taste, but my wife however with just purchasing a gyro it was already made for her and had alot of sauce. She still needed to use some of mine because she loves the sauce, but I could see that it might've been to much for other patrons. I feel the sauce is a little Americanized, but still tasty. They are obviously hanging their hat on how much depth of flavor they have achieved with the lamb meat. I am sorry to anyone else that enjoy Greek flavors other then the lamb. I ALWAYS get the lamb. I was hooked on the street food of Souda Bay, Greece where they even have french fries embedded in the gyro.. This is the closest I have found in years. Oh And They Need A Much Larger Sign Installed Out Front.

UPDATE: Went in today and their was a couple from Oklahoma ordering 50 pounds of meat to take home. They come up once a year and take home 50 pounds and have a big dinner to show off the amazing food that comes from Lilly. If that does not sell you on how good this place is, nothing will. Amazing food and staff. Truly a family owned and operated establishment. The gyros are the best in the metro area. The sides (fries, etc) are nothing special but the Greek food is perfect. ALWAYS take home some if their amazing baklava.

The place was busy so I figured we were in for a real treat. Especially after reading all the Yelp reviews. I ordered a chicken gyro my mother the same. Hubby ordered lamb. We also ordered hummus which I love love love. The gyros were HUGE brimming with meat but swimming in sauce. No feta cheese not even a drop. However, it wa tasty not omg tasty but tasty just the same. The hummus was flavorless but a hearty position. The service was good. The lady behind the counter (I am assuming the owner) was very pleasant. She didn't smile but was polite just the same. They had forgotten my baklava and when I called to tell her this (we didn't eat it there) she apologized and said bring in your receipt and I will give you one. All in all I would say it was okay. You get alot for your money.

I've tried some gyros before and have always been a fan of Greek food (mostly gyros) but haven't really encountered the wow factor until I came to this place. It's a small place and you'd probably miss it unless you're really looking for it but trust me, you'd want to look for it! I had the lunch special and the gyro turned out really delicious, the meat was not chewy which I've had before from other places and the sauce was really good. The meat was literally melt-in-your-mouth goodness and is so much more flavorful than any other Greek places I've tried. After eating about half of my gyro, I wish I wasn't full already because it was so sad to not be able to eat the rest. I definitely want to come back and try their other menu items. While waiting for my food, I could smell all the different blends of aroma from the kitchen and they just smelled so delicious! The place is nice and well-kept and like several people mentioned before, it's family-ran and they all seem so nice. I went during lunchtime and it was busy; some people had to wait to place their orders but great food is always worth the wait and what's another 10 minutes for something delicious and reasonably priced? I did notice that their menu items are very reasonably-priced. It's definitely a place to try if you like Greek food.

Needing someplace to eat before spending time at Barnes and Noble, I was wanting someplace that wasn't a chain or fast food. I thought about Fortel's or The Chuckwagon, but wanted something different. That's when Lilly's came from somewhere in the back of my mind. Anyway, I've driven by there for many years and have just never thought about going. But a while ago out at Faust Park, on a food truck event my wife ate at the Go Gyro Go truck and loved it and has been mentioning gyros since. So we did a little research on Yelp and found nothing but glowing reviews so we were in. So now that my life story is over, (sorry) let's talk about Lilly's. Lilly Gyros is now on my list of favorite places to eat. The interior may be dated, but the food is a definite classic. The location is an old Taco Bell, and the outside and inside are a little quaint. They have up gyro posters that are circa 1980's. There are table and chair in the center of the restaurant but the booths on the outside walls appear original to the Taco Bell. Amongst the signs that are posted include two that ask customers to "Share your love, but not your soda." I point this out because I know families where this is the norm. so be warned. As for the food, where to start. I ordered the Gyro Platter, and my wife ordered a Regular Gyro, and then we ordered Spinach Pies and Humus. The Regular Gyro comes with the meat, onion, tomato and Lilly Sauce (tzatziki) and looks a bit like a taco. The platter on the other hand is the ingredients of the gyro on the plate served in the same style as a fajita would be with the pita bread on top, and then add in a side of fries. In either case, the gyros were exceptional. The meat was moist and well seasoned, and from the heating method the outside had a little bit of a bark developing on it. The Lilly Sauce paired very well with the meat and the onion and tomato. The Spinach Pies were awesome. Like a little spinach empanada, they spinach wrapped in phyllo dough. The filling was creamy and the phyllo was light and flaky. The humus on the other hand was good but not the stand out that everything else was. Mind you, I would buy it again if in the mood for humus, but I don't know that I would travel across town for it. Overall, however, I loved Lilly's. The price point, the portions, the flavor, even the quaint atmosphere made it someplace I will eat at again.

I've been wanting to try this place ever since a friend told me about it, so when Kat V. suggested it for lunch, I was game. Our first visit was stymied due to the fact that the owners were on vacation, but we were green to go our second try. It's very efficiently run by a family, something that you rarely see these days. The son runs the front, taking orders and working the cash register, and the parents run the kitchen and smiles and waves at everyone who walks in. The son is all-business and actually on the curt side. They have some other employees who take the meals out to the customers and clean off the tables. They have a continual coupon on their website, which is simply "Bring in this coupon for a coupon". The "coupon" is for a free drink. The son kinda sneered at us when we asked him about that. Dude, a coupon is a coupon. Their lunch special is from 11-2 and consists of a 6" gyro, small fries, and soda for about $7.00. It might be a little higher; I forget, but I remember thinking that it wasn't as bad as other lunch places...so I'm a little hesitant to even say it was more than $7. Otherwise, if you miss the lunch special, there is an entire menu of sandwiches, gyros, shawarma, and Italian beef. The gyros came out really fast, despite the fact that there was a lunch crowd, and we dug in. There was a massive amount of meat on the gyro, and it was all tasty, so double thumbs-up for that. I actually ended up using a fork and knife because there was so much meat and sauce that the pita bread actually paled in comparison. But the bread was fresh, and the entire thing was pretty good, but also a little bit on the greasy side. The fries were nothing to write home about. While the gyro did not compare to any Turkish gyro (or any gyro from overseas, for that matter), it's one of the best gyros you can have in the St. Louis area. It definitely hit the spot, and I'll be back when I get my next craving for a gyro.

Things I like about LG: * It has a nifty website, from which I learned the names of the family: Ian, Lilly (of course!), Peyman, and Keivan; and gleaned the fact that the food not only is Greek, but also Spanish and Persian. * LG is two blocks from Randall's, on the same (south) side of the street (yet I never had noticed it). If you're at St. Clair Square, it's five minutes away. * Cherie O., who gets around to all the good places in Illinois, thinks it has one of the best gyros in the area, and that was recommendation enough for me (Thanks, Cherie!). * There's a little yelpburst on the entry door, which feels more and more like a good sign, as it means the owners are paying attention to social media and making an effort to provide an excellent experience for customers, old and new. * The moment I walked in, Lilly greeted me with a smile, offered a menu, and quickly took my order. * The wait time for takeout was only about ten minutes. * The food (lamb shank and rice, chicken shawarma plate, side salad) was excellent, the meats fall-off-the-bone tender, the rice flavorful, and the salad greens fresh. Yes, the building looks worn, and the parking lot has plenty of low spots for puddling water. But maintaining commercial real estate is an expensive enterprise, and for food this good, I am happy to support Lilly and her family. Very good local business!

I was looking forward to trying the gyros here but I'll just have to give it an OK. They only come with tomato, onion and tzatziki on them, it would be nice to be able to add feta or lettuce or olives. The tzatziki sauce tasted like ranch dressing to me, a little mayonnaisey instead of cucumber-Garlic yogurt. The service is very friendly and plenty of seating, just wishing for a better tzatziki sauce!

As some others have said, the young man running the counter appears to disdain his customers to an extent, but the food is still worth it. Best gyros I've had in the St. Louis area hands down. Lillys foods are great, specially the gyros and cheeseburgers. One of my favorite is their fries, always fresh, crispy and absolutely delicious so the provirus comment is so not true. The staff is wonderful, helpful and always welcome you with a smile. Truly the BEST Gyro & Hummus Ive had in the area! and I never would have known if it wasnt for Yelp! (Thanks!) It is in an old Taco bell or something but they owners are right in there cooking and ringing up your orders... The meat was absolutely perfect! Juicy and Delicious! The Hummus is homemade and DOES require a little extra salt and pepper the lemon juice made it nice too especially on a hot summer day.. But I imagine its a little bland so that people can kind of decide for themselves what to do with it...I would add a little spice to it to giveit a kick.. but anyway.. I easily recommend this place for those looking to have a Seriously Tasty Gyro! Next time trying the Shawarma...(Same thing basically)

So good we came back to try the hummus and to see if they were consistent. We also got the large ones to polish off later for dinner. The hummus was definitely homemade but a bit on the bland side. It benefitted from some salt and pepper and lemon juice but I was so full I took it home and added some more spices and it was better but I like a spicy hummus. Still, the gyros were great and the service great.

This place is great. I had an Italian Beef and Gyro and both were good. I was actually on my way to Arby's when I noticed a sign in the window that said ITALIAN BEEF, which is one of my favorite things, just barely beating out a good gyro. The thing about gyros is that in most places the meat is the same, coming from one of the big meat companies that specializes in the product. The differentiating factors are the sauce, the portion size and to some extent the bread. Lilly's does well on all counts.

I could not stop eating. It was that amazing I had a Greek salad and a lamb/beef gyro. I was full before I even hit the half way point of this baby. Yet I couldn't bare to toss it. You need to get yourself to this place right now! Yummy!

I come here religiously. Lilly does exist, she's almost always there with her husband and they make the best gyros in STL. Fluffy-iest pita, most meat (thick, moist cuts), and homemade sauce made fresh daily. You can't beat it... thick cut fries are also awesome. To top it off, it's very reasonable!

yay lily's! this is great food is tasty and not at all fake like some mall type pitas.the gyros portions are enough to take home and the baklava is great. prices are good and the staff isfriendly if you chat them up. i had to take a star away though because the place is pretty small and the hours are limited. otherwise is delicious.

I don't normally *do* bread or sweets, because I eat mostly raw vegan, but this place is off-the-hook-delicious, and it is absolutely worth it. The fluffy soft pita bread and the fragrant homemade baklava are ridiculous... So much so, that I almost wish I had not tried them. That is how good they are. I also ordered two pieces of falafel à la cart and dipped them in some of the Lillys special sauce, and it was outstanding. I will be back to try some babaganoush and hummus, but I have to be careful of this place. It's dangerous! I blame Yelp :) Oh, PS, it's family-owned and very inexpensive.

Lilly's is a great place to get your Gyros. The food has always been fresh and had great flavor. You get a ton of food here and would probably give 5 stars if they just gave you and extra pita for free because the amount of meat they give you with the platter there is no way that its all fitting in the pitas they give you. The sauce always seems to be fresh and out of the 8 or so times that I have went there the food has always been great. I know when I get the hunch for gyros this is the place that I go.

Love this place! Have been going here for years and have never walked away unhappy or not completely stuffed! (In a good way, not like you just ate something super unhealthy and you have to go take a slug nap) Lilly and her family are so sweet and welcoming every time I go in there! You'd be a ninny to not support this small and wonderful local business. ;)

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. Their sauce was great! The prices are pretty comparable to other gyro places. Service was quick. I cannot complain about a single thing about my visit. Will definitely go back!

OK so I had never had lamb before coming here but you can't just come in and not get authentic Greek gyro. Once you push the image of a soft sweet little lamb "baaaahh"-ing at you with big sad eyes.... its pretty delicious. They gyros are huge and very messy. You will need napkins and one rally can fill you up. The owners are super friendly. I saw them walking around when no new customers had come in and everyone was eating and making sure everything tasted good. Also, as a side note, their lemonade is quite possibly the best lemonade in the world. Its not too sour or too sweet. It is literally perfect lemonade. Anyway you normally wouldn't be able to tell its worth while from the outside. I think it used to be an old gas station or something because the bathrooms are outside and you need a key. Its a tiny place so I think Miss Lilly has the perfect hole in the wall/ hidden gem in all of Fairview Heights.

I've enjoyed gyros all over the country and find these to be the best ever! My friend and I both commented on how rare it is to have a gyro without feta cheese and not miss it one bit. If you are anywhere near this place for lunch or dinner, I recommend stopping. It's amazazazing.

Wow! That's the first thing I want to say. Their gyros are soo good! My husband and I tried Lily's out today and we're very happy with the entire experience. We both got the lunch special with the 6 inch lamb gryo, and an order of hummus. The service was great and the food was awesome. I highly suggest trying it out.

Yum yum yum! When my boyfriend got back from Greece where he was for work, he was desperate to find another great Greek place. This was the one place that did not disappoint him, or me when he took me there. The portions are huge and the family that runs and owns it is fantastic. We look to try something different when we go but you end up having the Gyros and it is hard to try anything else. They are delicious and come in 3 different sizes. I only wish they were open on Sundays because then we might get the chance to go there a little more often.

Ordered traditional beef and lamb gyro, and my co worker ordered the gryo plate special. Both meals had a large portion of gyro meat and both of us were impressed. I would suggest visiting this place to get full on quick and excellent tasting gryos.

I've been trying to make it over to this place for a few weeks now. I finally did and I sure was not disappointed!!! I loved my gyro and I also ordered the dulma (stuffed grape leaves) and they were yummy too. I went there around 1130 and it wasn't too busy yet but the lunch crowd started rolling in and you don't want to be a part if that if at all possible. I only say this because it seemed like they were kind of slow to make two gyros and fries and it wasn't that crowded yet. My only wish is that they stayed open later than 8. There's been a few times I would have liked to.have had a gyro late night :-) I can't wait to try some of the other items on the menu.

I love gyros, and have had them at many St. Louis establishments. I tend to eat lunch out since my job has me all over the place. I stopped in here after reading several Yelpers reviews. I wasn't a fan of the 6",7",8" pita choices. I got the lunch special, which was a 6" gyro, fries, and drink...around $8.50. As far as quantity, the gyro had a massive amount of meat. So much so, that you couldn't really taste anything else. I noticed they heat the meat up in a giant cast iron skillet, almost boiling it. I prefer the places that have the meat turning on a spit, so the meat gets browned, with little crispy edges. The homemade sauce ended up a watery mess because of the way they heated the meat. So far, The Gyro Company on Gravois blows this place away.

Best Greek place on the East Side, for sure. We used to just drive to the city and go to Olympia when we were hungry for Greek food. No more. Lilly's was awesome. Quaint little place, looks like it was a Taco Bell in a former life. Food quality was excellent. Everything was served on paper plates and styrofoam..... which grosses me out a little.

Wife and I grabbed a quick lunch on Saturday. This is a must stop for us when in the FH area. We ordered the gyro's of course. Wonderful! Never a disappointment. We had to wait about 15 minutes to get our food but I guess when you have a small place like this and packed with customers, of course you are going to wait. Certainly look forward to our next visit!
